EKHAYA – HOME

A sentimental series of woven works exploring memory, belonging and the experience of carrying pieces of home across distance. Natural materials become emotional archives, holding fragments of landscape, family, ancestry and the places that continue to live within us.

Onder die karob boom – under the karob tree

Gathered by a beloved aunt during childhood and carried from South Africa to the Netherlands by my mother, these carob seeds hold more than the memory of a place. They hold my people, landscapes and moments that made it my home. Woven together, they become an intimate archive of love and longing, of what remains with us even after we have left.
