Lichen

With this series of weavings Bosch tries to showcase the comparisons and contrasts in humans and lichens. Inspired by the diversity and adaptability of lichens, and how they can live in harmony with their environment and their symbiotic partners. Also illustrating the contrast and complexity of humans, and how they can affect their environment and their relationships with other living beings.

By using natural fibers, such as wool, cotton, and silk she creates different textures and patterns that represent the lichen thallus, or body mass, and the human skin and hair. Also using different colours of yarn to create contrasts and gradients that reflect the lichen pigments, the moisture and light conditions, and the air pollution levels. Hoping to inspire viewers to appreciate the beauty and simplicity of lichens, and to reflect on their own role and impact on the world.
